Aramaic Lord's Prayer ~ Vibrational Healing
The Power of Sound
By Elizabeth Reed with Neil Douglas-Klotz
It is a tenet of Hebrew mysticism, still alive in Judaism today, that words have power. And, not only do words have power, individual letters have power. Sounds have power. And sound is vibration. The quality of vibration through sounds affects existence. This approach to spiritual teaching would have been a part of Yeshua's (Jesus') approach.
The first word of the Aramaic Lord's Prayer, "Abwoon," is the word that Yeshua chose in this situation to address Divine Source. The word Abwoon points to many levels and possibilities of meaning:
One who Gives Birth to All,
Divine Parent, our Father-Mother of the Cosmos,
Radiance who Shines through All that Is.
Such words would be better translations of Yeshua's words than what we traditionally learn as "Our Father Who Art in Heaven".
Abwoon
We could say that the meaning of the entire prayer is contained within this one word. A sounding practice for you to try is to move very slowly through each sound of the word:
|
A...a...a...bw...bw...bw...bw...oo...oo...oo...n...n...n
|
|
With each sound, be aware of the vibration of the sound, be aware of the position of your tongue, your lips, and any other movements. Be aware of tone and pitch. Be aware of intuition and insight that comes.
